Sadey Setterington Sadey is a 5yr old Llewellin Setter. Sadey has been a client of OMVS since her first visit on Sept. 20th 2004. At this visit, Sadey was VERY ill, and was diagnosed with Parvovirus (a highly contagious virus, transmittable in feces.) It was a long haul for Sadey and her family, but within 3 weeks time, Sadey was given a clean bill of health. She recovered remarkably and is a happy, hyper, healthy girl! Sadey returned to the clinic this year for a physical examination as her family felt that she had gained a severe amount of weight, and appeared to be loosing stamina on their daily walks. On presentation, it was noted that Sadie was not her bouncy self, and she weighed in at 59.5lbs. This was very odd for Sadey, as she usually held a consistent weight of 39.6lbs. With the symptoms, and drastic weight gain, we decided to test Sadey’s thyroid gland. A simple blood sample was drawn and sent to the laboratory. Within one week we had the results that Sadey was in deed hypothyroid, and would need to be on supplementation from now on. Sadey was started on supplementation in May, and gradually became more like herself again. When Sadey returned to the clinic in August, we retested her thyroid to ensure she was on the proper dose of supplementation. On presentation this day, we immediately noticed that Sadey had her spunky energy back and that she appeared to have lost some of that excess weight. When she was weighed, we were thrilled to see that Sadey was down to 44.8lbs!! YAY!! Sadey is again on the road to recovery!
