PET OF THE MONTH

Dali

Dali presented to Dr. DeLuna on Dec.11/08 with a very serious odour coming from her mouth. Dali seemed to be showing her age, and her owner was slightly concerned.

On examination of her mouth, the Dr. noticed Dali had terrible recession of her gums, and severe tartar, leading to a very uncomfortable mouth. It was decided that Dali would need a dentistry to mechanically remove the plaque and tartar and give her mouth a fresh start.

Dali had her dental surgery that day, as her owner did not want to see Dali in pain, or discomfort.

During the surgery, dental radiographs were taken to determine the severity of her affected teeth. Radiographs revealed that Dali indeed had a fractured tooth with a large root abscess. The tooth was extracted, Dali was given intravenous antibiotics, and the remaining teeth were cleaned and polished.

Dali recovered very well from the anaesthetic and went home at the end of the day with strict instructions to stay on antibiotics for a few days.

One week following the surgery, Dali returned for a recheck examination. On presentation Dali’s owner stated that she was so thankful for the surgery, and that Dali was a whole new dog!  Her owner noticed a huge change in Dali’s personality within 2 days following surgery, and states that it was like taking her back 10 years!

We are very pleased that Dali has recovered so well from her surgical procedure, and that her mouth is no longer causing her any discomfort.
